There are nearly 85 known sleep disorders affecting 20% of Americans. Everyone at one time has experienced snoring, trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, or has been sleepy during the day. People with a sleep disorder experience these and more serious symptoms frequently.

Sleep apnea is a disorder that causes a person to stop breathing during sleep. It affects millions of Americans but is often unrecognized, despite the potentially serious consequences of this disorder. Consequences of untreated sleep apnea may include high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, stroke, memory problems, weight gain, impotency, and headaches. Moreover, untreated sleep apnea may be responsible for job impairment and motor vehicle crashes. The Department of Transportation reports up to 250,000 car crashes each year related to sleep disorders.

When a person has sleep apnea, it is always characterized by snoring. Not all people who snore have sleep apnea, but ALL people who have sleep apnea snore. If you or someone you love snores on a regular basis and experiences any of the symptoms of sleep apnea: chronic fatigue, memory problems, headaches, not feeling rested after a night's sleep, you should be evaluated to avoid further complications. If you just want your loved one not to snore anymore - give us a call.
